My GP surgery is changing to a system which arranges annual review on the patient's birthday month . I was born in August so they have asked me to make an appt . I have explained that it is only 6 months since my HA, some of my medication is still being sorted out & am still having other blood tests . I have requested a review at 12 months but they want to put me down as having refused a review. I have offered to make the appt myself in another 6 months but won't be on the system for this. Does it make any difference if I have a review now ? Could there be changes at 12 months which won't be seen now?

Annual review
Speak to the GP not the admin. Admin just stick to what they’ve been told. The GP is the one who makes the decision on your health. I have had to do this a few times with my meds. There is a difference between 12 and 6 months for heart meds (my GP told me this on Thursday at my last review appointment). Don’t forget admin are dealing with all patients with varying illnesses and medications.
I got caught with this - and I know your reservations about being down as "refused review". I got round it by cheerfully going to birthday month thing at the GP's - expressing my opinion that it was too soon and making an appointment for an annual review later. All the medics I saw seemed completely comfortable with this. When making the appointment for the review I stated "medication review" as reason for requesting the appointment. GP fine about it.
Hi. This system it would appear is being adopted by practices as routine. Lucky you that they contacted you to make an appointment. We have to remember on our birth month to contact our practice for a review. When I tried to make my annual appointment they put me off because it was 6 months away from my birth month. I was not happy, insisted on an appointment and nearly a year on am looking to have angioplasty next week. If any concerns speak to your GP if admin staff not obliging.
