Nstemi and 1 stent fitted March 2020, have had telephone conversation with Cardiologist along the lines of ‘ how are you ‘. replying ‘ I’m ok thanks ‘ and no more contact with any doctors since ( Cardiac Rehab completed).
My question is, should I be having an annual cardio health check at GP’s and if so is it down to me to initiate this, I do appreciate we are in strange times and things not running as normal.

The only annual checks, normally, are bloods and a meds review, this is with either a GP or a Pharmacist. And yes the onus is on the patient to arrange these, in my Practice there is a message printed on repeat prescriptions as to when it is due.
As to 'contact' with any Dr's, again this is down to the patient, if all is well then fine, if not then you contact the surgery.

Once we are discharged from the cardiologist back to GP it’s normally a yearly blood tests and medication check.Any problems your first port of call is your GP.

The only ok there hope your ok hope you don’t mind me jumping in here having worked in general practice you will be on a register which means you SHOULD be recalleod for check ups that said don’t think every surgery is quite running to there guidelines at present and I know there is a backlog but they are slowly but surely getting through a lot of patients - the practice I’m registered with l don’t think are doing the same so obviously everywhere seems different so I think it would be a good idea you ring your practice and ask them about it hope this helps a little 😊

Hi Drummer, just to add my 6 penny worth. I had a CABG 25 years ago. My surgery recall me annually for a nurse run Cardio clinic, which checks bloods, BP, weight and a general chat on lifestyle and any other issues.
This seems to be a common problem. I had 2 stents exactly a year ago, had no contact from anyone over the year and when I collected my prescription yesterday they have stopped a tablet without telling me why. I think the scenario is we contact them if we feel we have a problem and just get on with things in general.
Hi I’ve just read your reply to Drummer 1. They will have stopped your stent medication possibly Tiglagredor or Clopidogrel after a year. This would have been explained by the hospital just after your MI. It’s not surprising that you forgot it’s such a whirlwind time and remembering that a medication will just stop in a year is the last thing on your mind. The upside is you won’t bruise as much as that type of medication makes you very easily bruise. Hope this helps. 😀
I've just had a notification from my Cardio dept asking for me attend an appointment in June. I can only assume it's a 2-yearly check-up as I haven't seen my Gp recently.
Hi. I had 3 stents put in 7 weeks ago and was diagnosed with unstable angina on top of ischaemic heart disease. Within a week of coming out of hospital the Cardio Rehab team was on the phone checking how I was, mentally & physically. The Nurse rang me weekly offering advice and checking medication ok. Also arranged for the rehab physio to get in touch. They too are contacting me weekly after seeing me to discuss how I feel and to give me exercises to do at home. Maybe you should see if the Hospital has a cardio rehab team you could contact. They have really helped me.
Wow that is good follow up after discharge was you actually offered Cardiac Rehabilitation around 6 weeks post discharge?
The cardio rehab actually contacted me after 2 weeks. I was told by the cardio ward that the rehab team would ring me. I must admit I cannot fault them. Due to them I am getting my confidence back.
