DVLA and IST!

I was wandering if anyone else has IST ( inappropriate sinus tachycardia) or a different arrhythmia and have had to inform the DVLA and if anything happened? I just rang up and the lady is sending me a form to fill out and she said it’s a condition that does need to be reported... I’ve just bought my first car so yay my insurance is going to be sky high 🥴

I have IST but it’s controlled now. I have never informed DVLA. Didn’t even think of it.

Your insurance should not increase if the DVLA are happy and have granted you a licence. I have had diabetes since childhood and many companies tried loading premiums. This did mean shopping around as sometimes the trick seemed to get you on board and then load the premium! These days it is classed as discrimination! Hope you have a low insurance group car!

Thank you! Yeah I think that’s the trick luckily the car I’ve bought does have a lower insurance which is great just got to find the right company! Thank you

If the DVLA are aware of your medical condition & have agreed you can continue to drive, under the disability act it is illegal for an insurer to load a premium or policy excess or impose terms because of a medical condition.
