DVLA driving decision

So I've had to submit DVLA paperwork about my genetic heart condition. It's tough waiting for a decision even though I'm allowed to keep driving right now.

How long does it take?

Why not ask give the DVLA a ring and ask them?

Good suggestion. Need to face the decision (good or bad) at some point.

mine took about 3 to 4 months. They did send me an update once they had requested doctor info and then once they got it.

TBH I was dreading the decision so I put it to the back of my mind and looked longingly at my car for the living room window hoping I wouldn’t have to sell it - the car not the living room window.

Good luck, hope positive outcome.

NB If you get PIP / have blue badge remember you pay less Road tax and if you’ve already been paying full road tax you can claim it back. But you have to pay the total amount of reduced rate for the year upfront then claim back the already paid road tax at year end (I think). Bit complicated.

I had to pay three months by DD then send them a cheque for half my road tax £90 my pip award and ownership form, they said in October that I would receive my refund for DD soon, still waiting, I phoned and they told me I had to send all the paperwork back in 😡 what an inefficient way of working, why can't you just pay by card and attach proof to an email, by the time I get my refund my road tax will due for this year, char

Yes I had to send stuff in twice as I was misinformed (they admitted that) the first time so I had to resend again, and I didn’t know you have to pay a fee to get a postal order - yes all a bit antiquated! Much enquire about my refund.

Did you mean that you have to have both PiP and a blue badge to get reduced tax or could you get it by just having the blue disability badge. If the latter then I would probably be able to apply.

Sorry it’s the pip award letter not blue badge I sent in plus vehicle document. Not sure about just blue badge! My apologies

I got the reduced tax as I’m on standard mobility rate.

Thanks for the info. I thought I was being way to optimistic, otherwise every blue badge holder would have claimed. I only get mine because of arthritic knees.

have you tried claiming PIP? The process is not for the faint hearted though! Good luck
