DVLA notification - do I need to advise.
Hi Laura
I rang them just to be on the safe side and a heart valve replacement or repair doesn’t need to be notified to them but you do have to get your doctors permission to drive who has to note it on your records and there is a minimum of 4 weeks before you can ask
I know because I’ve just done it

The DVLA website is the one to follow. Conflicting advice comes from those who do not really know (lots on the InterWeb). Also I have heard incorrect advice given by some medical professionals. You also need to run it past your insurance company.
Yes I would advise it may void your insurance if u haven't notified them.
I had to because of HGV LICENCE they revoked it until they carried out medical investigations.
I had just mitral valve repair.
Informing them covers u either way.
Car they will let you drive while doing investigations
Big t what process did you have to go through to get the hgv back I'm waiting on bye pass surgery and surrendered my hgv surgery more
Important just some info please Regards

U can re apply via DVLA
They can send u an application and will send u a medical questionnaire and D2 medical form. Fill these in (if u have any photo copies of old licence or your surrendered licence keep it to prove u had HGV on normal license)
Once u have filled these in send by recorded delivery.
Then its just a waiting game.
U they will contact your GP and consultants to get more information.
U will probably have to have a stress exercise test on treadmill.
Also an echocardiogram or possibly stress echo.
Then it has to go before DVLA Medical panel
This all takes a good while it took me about 9 months to get it back!!!😮
Even then I had to get my local MP to write to them.
As long as there are no medical reasons for u not to get it back should be fine it just takes a long time. 🤔
