Hi all, I am feeling local (bruise like) chest pain on my right side for the last 3 days. Could this be angina or something related to the heart. It feels like the top part of my rib cage. It hurts when I press on it. Should I be concerned?
I had a stent fitted back on 11.1.19 its been all good. I have done heavy grocery lifting and its been a hectic couple of weeks. Any thoughts anyone?
Many thanks

As your pain is associated with pressing the area it is most likely not to be cardiac pain. As the pain is local to the right side this is most likely to be intercostal pain which can be caused by several things like costochondritis, muscle strain, intercostal neuralgia etc. Given you say you have had a busy few weeks it may be nothing to worry about. With your cardiac history perhaps to put your mind at rest go and see your GP.
Words of wisdom from the nurse at my cardiac rehab sessions: if it hurts when you touch it, it's not your heart. You may have strained or bruised one of your intercostal muscles.
As always, if it becomes severe when you don't poke it, get to an A&E first, ask questions later.
