Hello and welcome to the forum! I assume you mean an ultrasound test rather than going to America for a test. Knowing very little about you there are numerous things that could be looking for. These could be a fatty liver, any kidney abnormality including stones, your aorta, etc. Why not ring and ask as all responses here can only be guesses!
Thanks for the reply,,Im 54 and before my HA in May had never been ill,,In fact it was the first time in my life in A&E that day that i had ever had blood taken.Have tried ringing but dont get anywhere apart from being fobbed off.
I guess i may be worrying over nothing but was hoping maybe this was a normal thing after a HA.
I also received a letter out of the blue sending me for an abdominal US. It was for a liver scan for which my GP had referred me because of abnormal blood tests when liver affected by statins. It was just a precautionary measure but she had neglected to tell me!
An aortic scan has been offered to all men in the year of their 65th birthday since 2009. Mine was held in a local GP surgery. One man was not allowed home and taken by ambulance to to an acute hospital. Apparently his aneurysm was 13.5cm!
Maybe they want to rule out AAA. If you have a weight or dietary problem they’re maybe covering all bases. I lost my friend through one when he was only 61!
