Afternoon!

I read a lot of us suffer from side effects from the rattling of pills we take.. I had my HA mid April and surgery 27th April for 2 stents.. I was given the usual meds, I was on blood pressure meds before now I have the statins and clopi thinner added.. I felt fine until probably last week and I would say for about a week now I just constantly feel nausea.. today I can’t really function due to it.

I will discuss with GP, but wanted to see if anyone had seen anything similar and if maybe there was anything in diet (Caffine etc) that perhaps is making it more noticeable

TIA

Matt

Hi Matt. Could be a number of things I suppose. I've felt sick sometimes with mine, I'm on quite a few. Possibly side-effects, or something you are eating that's different, anxiety maybe or a bug etc. Best check with your Doctor though if it doesn't go. I'm certainly no Expert, just thinking that's all. Hope it goes for you soon.

Hi Matt - in addition to comments of Greenlady13 have you had a liver function test done yet. Following commencement of statins you should have liver function test done to ensure they are not adversely affecting your liver (just a precaution). Check the patient advice notes for any meds you are taking. I notice from one of your previous posts you recently stopped smoking - great and well done; take a look at the attached article about side effects following nicotine withdrawal.healthline.com/health/smoki...

Thanks... I hadn’t considered smoking or withdrawal after this long but it does appear it could be something ... nice one thanks, I’ll monitor and report back to GP if it goes in.

They’ve certainly done no tests since I was put on these new drugs, it’s been 5 weeks so probably a little early I’d imagine unless I report issues.

Thank you

Are you taking a stomach protector such as Lansoprazole or similar? Btw not too early for bloods to be taken to check on Liver; Kidney functions .

Lansoprazole I’m on yes

Ok .. because omeprazole shouldn’t be taken with Clopidigrol. Just make sure you take the tablet in the morning 30 minutes before eating.

Yes, I was on Omeprazole prior to HA with the BP meds.

Thanks for comments

Hi MattUK, I am on both Omepraze and Clopidogrel and wondered why you say the can't be taken at the same time?

Not sure on the reasoning they told me it was a better one to be on as it had improved what it does to your stomach, I don’t know the medical background I’m afraid

Hi Penfold_5. Why is that please as I am currently taking both?

in reply toKingsmil

I was told by my GP that Omeprazole reduces the effectiveness of Clopidigrel. If you look up Omeprazole interactions on the Nice website it says to avoid. But, please, do not even think about stopping either without first consulting your GP.

After HA I was put on the usual drugs . I felt great for 3 to 4 weeks then the side effects kicked in. See you GP to see if one of the tablets could be causing it. I had to have almost all of mine changed for various unbearable side effects.

Hi,

Me too and I need to see my GP. My guess in my case its either the huge statin dose (80) or the beta-blocker. The liver function test from Mathan53 is a good idea. Nausea could come from too much Codeine from the pain. After 3 months my pain is finally abating somewhat, so I am going easy on the pain-killers.
