Hi I had a stent after a mild heart attack and was put on six drugs including statins at a level of 80, 2 blood thinners and a beta blocker and an aspirin. I stopped one blood thinner Rampiril because of the cough. I have been told that this bombing with drugs is normal. So far no side effects with the drugs. Blood Pressure normal.
The heart attack was caused by cholesterol in one artery which is apparently genetic.
Any advice gratefully received

Hello and welcome to the forum! Ramipril is a BP medication. You need to discuss this with your GP as the aim for cardiac patients is to run a lower BP than otherwise to reduce strain on the heart and help prevent further plaque build up although lifestyle changes and statins are the main treatments for this.
Take all the drugs mate, you wouldn’t get them if you didn’t need them, I was told by my cardiac nurse she had asked her gp to be put on certain ones, just as a precaution after her husband had a heart attack and the event worried her, but was refused saying the meds cost a lot of money and the nhs won’t perscribe them unless you’ve had a HA because of the cost, I’m quite happy to take all my meds and thankful for every prescription
Hello Howell53. Same here. I changed to Losartan and cough went. I hate taking any meds but if they stop me from having another heart attack I’m taking them all. 🙂
I'm in the same boat - mild heart attack and now taking 8 meds! I think they throw everything at you initially. I'm hoping that when I get my cardiology appointment they may change things. I've just moved from Ramipril because of the cough to Losartan - still coughing after 2 days! Good luck.
