I had a CABG x 2 in August. After my 8 week checkup I was discharged by the cardiologist, (he is based 60 miles away).Should I now be under the care of the cardiology department at my local hospital or just my GP? Thanks

You should discuss it with your doctor.

I saw the cardiologist at my local hospital who after an angiogram referred me to the nearest specialist centre for cardiac surgery. After discharge from the surgeons, I had to phone the cardiology secretary at the local hospital to ask about a follow-up appointment. My bypass op was April 18 but I didn’t see the cardiologist until March this year as they are so busy.

It might be worth phoning the cardiac secretary there.

Best practice would be Cardiologist visit once a year and as needed.

GP yearly and as needed.

This answer is based on where I live and what we do here.

I’ve just spoken to the Cardiac Centre. Apparently I should have been reviewed at 6 months but I’ve fallen off their review system. I will be sent an appointment by post but I was warned it could be quite a while!
