Hi. I have had the all clear after extensive tests regarding heart problems. I am now reducing off Alatolol beta blocker. Does anyone know if it’s normal for heart rate to increase rapidly from say 55 bpm to 100 bpm. This happens for no real reason. It drops back down again more or less straight away. I don’t have to be doing anything for this to happen. Perhaps walk up the stairs. My dosage has been 50mg daily for eight or so months. For the last week after getting all clear I have been alternating 50 mg one day followed by 25mg next day. This is for seven days. I will then go to 25 mg per day for a week. Then 25 mg then miss a day and so forth until I finally titrate off completely.
Thanks.

I would suggest speaking with your doctor, as you are coming off your beta blocker it may be related.
I know what u are saying .same happened me with little exertion .yes climbing stairs or maybe just doing little housework cleaning, not strenuous.
Reason mine done this was that I had to go off beta blockers because about 2 months after my heart attack and 4 stents later my pulse was dropping too low till 40 sometime mid 30sys.I was fit before heart attack swimming 1 mile a week and cycling and walking all life.
Anyhow after slight exertion my pulse would fly up when I came off beta. B. I gradually increased my exercise and when pulse went up I slowed ,paced myself building up slowly .now I'm much better 1 year later .can swim 1/2 a mile twice weekly keeping my pulse between 70 and 80 .just build it up slowly after coming off tablets and your body will regulate pulse. I hope this is helpful .
