Pre-op tests validity

I'm on a waiting list for Mitral Valve repair/replacement and also a Triple Heart Bypass ( CABG ). I had all of my pre-op tests done on 2nd April.

I was told waiting time would be 6/8 weeks.

As the 8 weeks has now passed does anyone know how long the pre-op tests are valid for?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Kind regards

David

Hello Davewm,

It might be different at each hospital, but at mine pre-op tests are valid for 3 months. I was told if time went over that, they would do a quick re-assessment on my arrival on the day of the op. You could always give them a polite call, just to check & ‘remind’ them you’re waiting! Hope this helps & good luck with your op and recovery.

Best wishes

My position is similar to yours

Except that mine is just a quadruple bypass

I had a 4 hour pre op assessment on 31 March and was told I would be on 6/8 week waiting list

On 30 April I went back at short notice for a vein scan

Now that the 8 weeks is up enquiries of the clinical nurse specialist reveal that the surgeon is on leave till mid-June and that the admissions co-ordinator will get in touch when the surgery is scheduled -normally with a week's notice of admission

So we may end up in the same ward!

Thanks for kindly replying.

I spoke to the waiting list co-ordinator at Essex Cardiothoracic Centre today and she said the pre-Op's are valid for 12 weeks. She said it was looking like mid to end June. (This would be just within the 12 weeks) I don't know where you're having your surgery but all the very best to you and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

David
