Hi all this is my 1st post need help. Im experiencing urge to take deep breath every minuter or feel suffocated. At rest i take deep sigh. This is 24x7 so i went to Cardiologist did echo which came normal. Saw pulmonologist and Did PFT test all readings normal except DLCOSB and KCO were less than 80% of normal range FEV 1 and FVC more than 100%. Doc advised chest CT scan which came normal. I would like mention that i suffered from heart palpitations most of life im 41 now. Recently my palpitations gone but this SOB thing started .

I got CBC done all normal got allergy thyroid and vitamin D test done . All normal . I am taking .25 MG xanax to help me sleep other wise im waking up due to gasping . Distraction helps but im anxious and worry a lot . So SOV comes back every time .i have chest tightness and feel like suffocated if not yawning qnd sighing deep. Lost some weight due to anxiety . But symptoms are real . Pls help me and let me know if there is something else can try. Thanks for reading and support . Wish you all feel better

Try sleeping sort of propped up - use 4 pillows and arrange into a V shape. This might help you - it stopped me gasping in the night.

I have the same symptoms, but can not help with a diagnosis as mine has been put down to either, anxiety (everything is initially down to anxiety) or beta blockers ( heart rate AVE. Between 45 & 58 ). Mine I don't think is as bad, but it is very concerning when it is happening. If I do ever get any further diagnosis I'll let you know.

Hello

I started to take Involuntary Gasps after having by pass surgery it just happens for no apparent reason !!! but in my case Heart Nurse puts it down to bigeminy//trigeminy when my Ejection Fraction is lowered, Theory behind this is Brain says, going to be short of Oxygen very soon So Breathe . I also Yawn a lot which apparently is for the same reason !!

Regards

May be all in brain when we are not busy . Whats your EF value ?

E F varies, lowest 27% currently between 30/40 % Awaiting a Stress MRI which cardiologist says is only way to get an accurate reading. Echocardiogram a bit of a guessing game !!!

Ok thanks i have done 4 to 5 echo so far so far all are in range of 60 to 70 . Hope i can take the avg .

If you have tried all of that and everything is ok I'd be looking into muscle issues on and around the chest. Strained muscle in that area can cause your breathing to be out of sinc.

Might be worth looking into.

Take care.
