Drug abuse post from Sunday

Hi everyone, I have read Lezzers recent post about whether Or not people who have heart problems through drugs should be supported. I’ve read all the comments too. I would just like to apologise to anybody who I offended making my post. I really have changed my lifestyle drastically and tried helping people I know stop doing the stupid things I used to do. Just to clear up I never made light of anybody else’s situation. I gave the up most respect to everyone else’s situation and wished them the best as most people problems are awful. There was only one person who got me upset yesterday and I answered all there questions and they just kept calling me a troll for no reason. I did respond angrily to them but even then I wished them the best. I was honestly coming on here for help. As doctors and family haven’t gave me much reassurance and this has effected my life massively. Again please understand I know I brought this on myself. I made mistakes. I have learnt from them and do not do anything like that encourage others not too as well. I would like to add that I am happy to try help anyone who has had a similar situation to myself. Or any situation that I could possibly help. I am certainly not a troll and it did get to me that a certain someone refused to accept that and kept hailing abuse at me. Thank you for the People who replied without judgement and tried to help such as lezzers. You really are a credit to this world.

I just needed to write this post so people understood where I was coming from. And I hope the very best for everyone in this forum and again I’m sorry for upsetting anyone as that was not my intention in the slightest

Hi Bunting. Good to hear from you. I saw your original post but didn’t get to reply before it was taken down I have followed the thread from Lezzers. I’m sorry it got heated. This forum is usually a brilliant place for support and information. Although sometimes the written word can be upsetting. I see that you say you have made some lifestyle changes. I think that’s great and hopefully you can focus on looking after yourself. However it still maybe helpful to get regular check ups especially given the trauma that you have undergone Also if you have any future symptoms you should seek further advice and support from your doctor. (The BHF have some great resources on their website as well)Thank you for taking the time to update us. It can’t have been easy. Take care and I hope you continue to improve sending hugs. Zena x

Hello Bunting and welcome to the forum. I didn't see your original post but do hope you feel able to post again whether or not you are able to maintain the positive changes you have made to your lifestyle. We all have to take responsibilities for the paths we take in life and I am sure most of us have done things in our lives that have impacted upon our health I know I have. Keep positive there may be ups and downs and good luck with improving your health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you mate. I hope the best of health for you too. I will make sure I keep improving my lifestyle. This was the biggest thing to ever happen to me and a giant wake up call that you only live once and it is not to be taken for granted.

Before people start saying drug users brought heart problems on themselves, they should look at what brought on their heart problems. In the case of my husbands CA this brought on by life style choices (food and drink) is there a difference between those choices and the use of recreational drugs? Not everyone has heart problems through birth defects or DNA. Good luck to you mate.

My only problem with this post is that it is not the original identification that I responded to originally. Considering the trouble this has caused, perhaps Admin should look into it?

Bunting97 in reply to

The reason for this mate is because I created the original one. Then when I tried signing into it again it said it said my username and password was wrong so I had to make another one. I actually did this twice and I really don’t know why that happened.

Best wishes to you. I hope you are able to keep up the lifestyle changes you have made and that your experience will ‘get through’ to others.

What you have gone through is very frightening and you will still probably be in a state of shock which is contributing to your anxiety.

Learn ways to relax and not get stressed. Have regular checkups and try to live well and eat healthily.

Be strong and all the best for the future..xx

I’m lying in bed in a Chinese hospital after two stents being fitted this morning. Look after your head and your heart sunshine 😀🙏🏻😀

Hope you are home now and thinking about the day you will get back on your bike. Do they do rehab in China?

COYW profile image
COYW in reply to MichaelJH

Hi MichaelJH. They do through the private clinic that referred me to Zhongshan Hospital. I’ve been so lucky to be included in my wife’s medical insurance from her work. I had no symptoms of the disease so would have merrily gone on a Himalayan climbing expedition to 7000m if it hadnt been for the investigations the clinic carried out when I complained of anxiety attacks. I’m in shanghai for another month then back to UK and a lengthy conversation with my GP 😀

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply to COYW

Sounds like you may have had a lucky escape as the thinner air at altitude puts more strain on the heart!

COYW profile image
COYW in reply to MichaelJH

True. The only reason why I got checked out was because coincidentally my wife had heart surgery about 8 weeks ago here and I trusted the clinic she used very much So I decided to have a stress test before the Himalayas. Sad I couldn’t go but probably a close call.

Thanx for writing this, I also had to have open heart surgery because of my own mistakes in the past and have also changed me life around and try to help others do the same. I didn’t get much support from family ect so nice to know I’m not alone xx

Only a couple of comments on this post. In my opinion Only Professional/Medical/Social Care Support can clear you of a drug related problem, not a Health Forum. No one on here knows of your problems so comments are really of no consequence. There is no such thing as Recreational Drugs there are illegal Substances and Medical Drugs. I wish you well with your search to be cured of what ever it is that troubles you.

Just to add I believe that here in the UK we are all currently entitled to Medical/Mental Treatment regardless of the reason that we need it.

Regards

I didn't see your original post, and nor do I need to X

We all make mistakes, it's what we take away from these mistakes that count.

From what you've posted here, it sounds like you've had a massive wake up call, as have many others, I'm not sure it matters how we got here, it's where we go from here that matters.

So onwards and upwards, best foot forward and all that🙂.

Good luck and best wishes from here onwards, look forward to seeing more posts from you x

People are naive to think that the vast majority of youth haven’t taken some form of drug. I didn’t see the original post so not sure of the extent this is affecting you and I’m sorry it’s happened this way but please use this experience to help others think about their choices. My friends think they are invincible and it’s only a matter of time that something serious happens to one of them. ;-( Try to surround yourself with people that are kind and that care. Good luck with your journey. Keep strong

Hi Carly B

You are so very correct in your assessment of Young people thinking they are invincible, and that they will be O K no matter what. It's only when we get Older that we see the consequences of past mistakes. -) Your advice to Bunting is very very good and I hope he/she can succeed in following it.

I didn't see your original post or replies but I understand that you must have been through a hell of a time. Some of the replies to your latest post make some great points. Heart problems happen for many different reasons (food, drink, stress etc), so no one should judge you. We all make mistakes and it's how we turn things around that matters. You seem to be doing just that so well done and keep it up. I wish you good luck and good health for the future x

You can make it. As I mentioned in my original post some of my circle died. In addition another person died but it was put down to a long term medical condition but I was never convinced! Another person who had become a heroin addict cleaned up his act and went on to get a good job in the City. What staggered me were the number of people that seemed to want him.to fail. One person criticised me for going for a drink with him saying it could lead to a relapse. I had to point out he was in control of his life and we only had a couple. That sort of negativity irritates me. When people say "Why me?" I say you should ask "Why not me?" and move on...

I apologise for possibly going off on one, I can't remember now what I wrote but I know I was angry. I don't think you made it clear that you were trying very hard to make a difference to your lifestyle etc. I hope you will get the support you need. I think it will be very hard for you if your family & friends don't support you. You must keep away from other drug users and naysayers who say you can't change. YOU CAN. I don't know where you live but I do know about people who have made amazing recoveries with professional help. You would not recognise them from their original state. I do hope you will find and work with people who can help. GOOD LUCK and maybe in 6 months you will be a changed man. x

Bunting97 profile image
Bunting97 in reply to Glasgowgirl1947

Honestly I apologise. I can fully understand why you would be angry. I want you to know that I will never touch a drug again. I stopped smoking, drinking and all of that. I can understand our anger in someone wasting there healthy body when some others aren’t born with the privilege. But I want you to know I really did learn a lesson and made me more aware of how fragile we are and made me aware of other people and there situations. You have no reason to apologise. I send my best wishes to you x

I didn't see your original post or responses so I don't know your heart situation but everyone does stupid things, smoke, drink, drugs, overeat on a load of stodge and ready meals, lack exercise etc! The point is that if you want to make a change you should be able to receive help from someone and it's a shame your family aren't able to do that. Maybe they think you won't sustain a change? I just wonder how many of those who criticised your 1st post have actual turned their bad habit around. I certainly know I could do more and am working towards it (mine is weight). One step at a time with worst habits to be worked on first. Take care.

We all make mistakes in life and make wrong decisions. Hopefully we learn from our errors! What we shouldn’t do is judge other people by the choices they have made.

I’m also working on my weight gain over the last 18 months which I know is not helping my blood pressure which is high.

Bunting please don’t feel you are not welcome on here.

Excellent choice of music Michael - a song for the soul.

I didn't see any of the posts but this one.. Its easy to forget that many heart patients have addictions including to things supposedly safe like sugar and that many heart patients, myself included, have made poor lifestyle choices, before and after surgery, such as poor eating, no exercise, overworking, not sleeping properly, not taking our meds etc. It doesn't matter what has caused our heart disease and if we made poor choices we all deserve the same treatment and support.

Thank you all for responding to my post. Some lovely people on this forum and it really showed me why people make forums like this in the first place. Every single one of these comments help more than you’ll all ever know. god bless you all. It made me feel human and it’s been quite reassuring that people understand what I have done and are still willing to not judge me and give me advice. I deserved a kick up the backside for how I used to treat my body and believe me I got it. If anyone ever feels they could get any form of advice from me. If anyone is struggling with a situation they find hard to talk about, just know I am all ears and anyone in this forum is welcome to speak to me and I will try my best to help in anyway with no judgement. We are all human and you lot have proved how lovely humans can be. I thank you all. And thank you for making me not feel alone.

You have seemingly dropped cocaine and recovered from a heart attack add tee being given CPR by a friend all in a week .

You posted in a dismissive manner with a care less attitude several days ago and now you seem such an aware and socially understanding person

I am in awe ,you sir have changed so much In such a short time ,kudos to you

Well done I wish you all the best.

Bunting97 profile image
Bunting97 in reply to Deanosbeano

Thank you. But this was my original problem. I’m not sure if I have had a cardiac arrest or if I have just had a regular seizure and stopped breathing which does happen. I really want to know this so I can give my doctor a better idea of where to go from here. I’ve just never heard of someone having a cardiac arrest and then being fine 5 minutes later with my heart racing at like 160bpm which I think is because of The substance I took.

Deanosbeano profile image
Deanosbeano in reply to Bunting97

Cocaine destroys the heart that's a fact , given your original post and your mate giving you CPR , I imagine seeing the Dr is probably the best thing your gonna do and be quick it's a bank holiday .

Bunting97 profile image
Bunting97 in reply to Deanosbeano

I’ve been to the doctor plenty of times. This happened in October of last year. The doctors have said they can’t find anything wrong with my heart

Deanosbeano profile image
Deanosbeano in reply to Bunting97

You had a heart attack /siezure last October and your friend gave you CPR , you didn't seek medical help in your own words but you have been been Dr lots of times and now you want to build up a picture for your Dr so he can properly diagnose you ?

I think I got it now

Relax brother.

If former drug users like thee and me are to get stick about this sort of thing (as perceived as self destructive) then all burger eaters should be in for a horse whippin'...

Wish you every success and good health,
