My husband had bypass 4 grafts in November.2weeks later had heart attack due to blockage on one graft.then developed sternal wound infection, which is healing. He is still having pain in both armpits front n back sometimes codine n paracetamol do not give enough relief.i want to know if anyone has pain issues after 10 weeks surgery as guide book says that it should be 4 weeks regular dose of painkillers n then occasionally if needed. But we can’t discontinue them.any suggestions

Hi Nm 54

I would speak to the Medical personnel who are looking after his Sternal Infection they should be able to help. Everyone of us who has been through Heart Surgery have recovered at different rates. It's just a longish road to full recovery.

Hi NM54, I had a bypass in March 2018 and have been very lucky, was only on paracetomol when I got home and only at night. As Prada47 has said people do heal at different rates but you are right to be concerned with what your husband has gone through. I would definitely seek medical advice and see your GP if you can. Has the cardiology ward given you their details as I know my ward did to speak to me if I had any concerns or questions. Best of luck to you both xxx
