Hello and welcome to the forum! I am afraid that I am unable to interpret the report as it bears no semblance to the two I saw before my bypass. You may benefit from ringing the BHF nurses in the morning.

Why do you think they only want to operate for the money? One of the cardiologists I saw on my journey was Egyptian and he was highly competent and able.

It appears that the report is longer than just one page.

It's hard to say without seeing all the pages.

This question is too important to go to a patient forum for answers. However, this is a very thorough echo, and what stands out to me is that your mother has severe aortic stenosis.

This is defined as mean PG>40, max PG >80 and Vmax > 4

Your mother's mean PG is 51.9, her maxPG is 89 and her Vmax , if I have identified it properly ( I'm not used to this abbreviation) is 4.66

Her aortic valve area is less than 1 cm, and the stenosis means she has developed left ventricular hypertrophy.

Severe aortic stenosis does not necessarily mean an immediate operation if she is totally asymptomatic, but she will certainly need valve replacement and sooner ( within the next year) rather than later.

I appreciate I am just a patient who has had a valve replacement for aortic stenosis, but I suggest you trust her doctors.

If you are uncertain you can ask for a stress echo to see if her stenosis worsens with exercise, but If this was my echo I would have the operation.

Do phone the bhf nurses.

What is the contradictory advice you are getting?

All the best to your mother

Thank you for your very helpful response to OP. I went to an American medical website that used the Vmax abbreviation and the values you quoted agree completely. This is lifesaving surgery not money making!

It would be more appropriate to crop the photo you posted so it doesn't show your mother and her doctor's identities.

I would get a professional opinion to explain the report fully to you. I’m very uneasy with this level of medical advice being given here by patients.

Actually I absolutely agree with you Kristin - I don't think it's an appropriate question for the forum and have said this and made clear I am just a patient. The echo readings are very clear in what they show though, and fit with the professional guidelines for aortic stenosis that I quoted, and I hope at least my response will encourage the poster to go back to the professionals and have more trust in the recommendation they have already made for OHS. Noone will operate on this lady on my sayso!

Not sure where in Egypt you are.. but I have just suffered complete death cardiac arrest added with complication of a total heart block.. in theory..I should not be answering you as my heart stopped 7 times in 2 hours..

I am in Hurghada.. I was in Al Kawther Hospital .. tel0020 1272111172

Info@alkawtherhospital.com

My cardiologist was Dr Mahmoud Karim..

And I swear to God the man and his team are amazing.

What that guy does not know is not worth knowing about.

Its genuine care..love and respect for his patient.

I was taken in after collapsing in the street and their first thoughts were my condition..not my insurance..

So please feel free to visit them.. you will feel totally reassured by the treatment you receive.

Good luck
