Hi Vinc, so pleased everything is going well for you and hope it continues that way. Getting the balance right and listening to your body is definitely the right way to go. It is so easy to overdo something and regret it the next day. Keep up the good work.
Must be great for you to be home and already to be feeling the healing your preparation and PMA has earned you.
Initially, I had what I call my 'wilderness weeks' where improvement seemed almost imperceptible but then healing speeded up, and energy levels improved as I committed to the 'walk yourself well' regime. It was so uplifting to feel the physical improvements - no doubt you will experience the same.
Of course I overdid it a couple of times so awarded myself a Netflix day, but soon learned to listen to my body. OHS recovery is not a sprint, but a 12 week marathon. My cardiovascular nurse OK'd cycling at week 10 at which point I also had some sneaky tennis, but all was well. The only real setbacks have been a throat infection and a stomach bug which knocked me back a bit. But hey,ho - onwards and upwards as I hit 6 months , post AVR.
I wish you well with your continuing recovery, Vinc.
I would say Feb/March should be doable for you if my recovery experience is anything to go by. I missed last winter as altitude had become a factor; at 2000 metres+ oxygen levels are only 80% of what they would be at sea level. OK for fit folks - not good for iffy aortic valves!
but the feb trip was winter olympics which was work and needed in order to pay for this year of waiting, but al thats i the past now and moving forward slowly now
i lost 14kgs since march and felt so much better because of it
