Dry mouth caused by meds

Hi just thought I would share this tip. I have been given amitriptyline to take on top of my normal heart meds while they work out what's going on in my brain, either TIAs or hemiplegic migraines.

Anyway they give me the most horrendous dry mouth and my GP nurse suggested I try Biotene products, you can get gel, mouthwash etc. It is such a help, I am using the mouthwash and it lasts for at least 4 hours at a time

That's helpful thanks. I have sjogrens syndrome which causes dry eyes mouth, nose, ears etc and haven't yet found anything that helps. The artificial saliva I was given by the GP barely lasts 3 minutes.

Unfortunately for me amitriptyline is the only option at the moment or I would be telling the consultant exactly where she could put them 😀
