The best foods for constipation are:

oat meal, beans, raw cabbage salad, more healthy fat like olive oil and nuts.

Try to quit white flour, white pasta and rice.

Replace them with their whole grain version.

Drink a lot of plain water!

Try to keep walking, it helps for both your heart and constipation.

Qazim, some medications do cause constipation and a dry mouth, I have taken several over the years and had to stop them. From the list you gave, I think it will be the Clomipramine or the Bromazapam. Dry mouth and constipation are a known side effect of a certain type of medications. If you cannot control the constipation by eating more fruit, fibre and roughage, etc., you should say to your Doctor that you want to have a short trial period off one medication at a time, to see if, and which one, is causing the problem. When you find what is causing it then they can look at alternatives

The pain in your chest, shortness of breath and inability to walk is of more concern to me, especially as you describe that you have trouble even walking. By CAD, do you mean coronary artery disease? And MVA is microvascular angina (you can look it up on the internet e.g. see here: bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo... ). When are you next seeing your Cardiologist? If it is not very soon, I would suggest that you see your GP as these symptoms are very indicative that your heart condition needs prompt attention, especially in a man of only 40. Please make sure you see a doctor soon about this. With angina, you can get a GTN spray to help you with shortness of breath, but it may not work with MVA, that article suggests your Cardiologist has done well to identify MVA in you as it is not easy.

Great advice Cliff_G

There has been alot of recent research into Microvascular dysfunction/ angina and vasospastic angina which means even more is beginning to be understood about these possible causes of Ischaemia with non obstructive coronary arteries INOCA.

INOCA is referred to as non obstructive coronary artery disease NOCAD

Here is a more recent article about Microvascular angina.

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

People living with MVA often have chest pain and breathlessness when exercising. It's challenging to diagnose and live with.

It usually involves trial and error to get the right combination of medication that will help each individual patient best.

i told thousand of times yo doctors they r say from many years u have anxiety. u think about heart so u feel pain in heary. they say u habe CBT. but told they i hv not psycho problem its heart problem . they said your angio graphy is normal so no meed to worry about micro vascular angina. i m from Pakistan.

Qasim, obviously without seeing all the results and discussing your case with you as your doctors have I don't know. But I do think that if you are having such physical problems, then having anxiety about it is only expectable, especially if your treatment is not being effective - and I don't think the anxiety could be the *main* cause of such extreme physical issues.

Two possibilities - you are getting bounced from Cardiologist to Psychologist and back again - perhaps you could ask them for an MDT review of your case - Multi-Disciplinary Team - this is always best in complex cases.

Or, sometimes you just have to get a second opinion. [edit: post edited to delete para]

I wish you well.

Qazim Raza lives in Pakistan

A word of caution about Dr Sanjay Gupta.

While he is very knowledgeable about atrial fibrillation he is at his own admission not an expert about MVA.

The information in his youtube video about both MVA and Vasospastic is outdated.

I met him at a conference and asked him to update the information using the BHF website information and latest research. I am still waiting.....

Microvascular and vasospastic angina are often under recognised and diagnosed.

There are only a handful of specialists in the UK who have the expertise to correctly diagnose Microvascular dysfunction and vasospastic angina

Thanks, very useful information. I had also not realised Qasim is *in* Pakistan, not just from Pakistan, I read it too literally. I will edit my other post

thanks cliff. at this time 2am at night i also have breathing problem. i agree with u and change many doctors and cardiologist. cardiologist said you have anxiety issue. but i agree with u that its not only anxiety issue. what what i do. i took more than 5 opinion. when they see thay best doctors diagonosed its anxiety other joinior dr dont denie him. and said u anxiety. i want to.ask u that do i need thalium scan test of heart. and if any disease diagonosed in thalium scan then is there any treatment available for this. plz give advise. some people said that if in thslium scan ur disease disgonsed like narrow or block small arteries then also there is no treatment for that. you have to continue same previous medicine.

Qasim, I am not familiar with MVA other than basically what it is. With two of my own conditions I did manage to find special support groups who helped me a lot, on Facebook. Try here... m.facebook.com/groups/28796... . Also see if you can find authoritative information. More than that I don't know.

I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time. Sometimes the meds can cause alot of things. Or you may want to check your blood sugars as a dry mouth can be a sign of diabetes or or prediabetes. I have benefitted greatly by changing my diet to the "Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease" by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. Since doctor's education is paid for by the pharmaceutical companies, the docs are not taught and don't believe that these things can be fixed with a dietary approach. But there are countless testimonies from people who have been healed by it, even when the doctors have said there is nothing more that can be done.

Hello

Could you please provide the evidence that supports your statement below?

'Since doctor's education is paid for by the pharmaceutical companies, the docs are not taught and don't believe that these things can be fixed with a dietary approach. '

Here in the UK every doctor is taught according to an approved curriculum by the General medical council.

Sorry I am not in the UK, however doctors in North America are all under the medical system and they learn very little about natural and nutritional ways to get healthy. Big Pharma controls what they learn.

Your comment I feel is disingenuous and insulting to the medical profession by suggesting they are more interested in money than following the hippocratic oath.

Also could I ask you to read this link from BHF admin.

healthunlocked.com/bhf/post...

Can you provide randomised evidence based research to support Dr Caldwell Esselstyn views?

CorGo profile image
CorGo in reply to Milkfairy

You can read his book. Sorry you feel that was insulting. I never said the doctors are in it for the money. I said they are trained more in medicine than in natural and nutritional healing. Many people don't get well because they are not told about other ways to be healed. If you use only medicine, it does not fix the underlying issue that created the problem in the first place.

I prefer to relay on robust research evidence rather than one person's view in a book.

You also claim that doctors education is controlled by big pharma which is untrue.

His plan is to eat greens like kale, lettuce, collards, broccoli, chard and others, 6 times per day and eat nothing that comes from an animal and no oils and no nuts, just 2 Tablespoons of ground flax ground flax and no high fat foods (no avocado and no coconut) and soy should be low fat. No processed foods and only whole grains. Eat lots of beans also. Also it helps to have vinegar with the greens.
