Hi lovely people just after some advice have posted on here before and found you all to be very helpful

Ok bit of a long story apologies x

Back in April Was suffering high blood pressure breathless on excertion Chest pain & palpitations and was advised possibly angina and possible blockage ! after many tests all ok, results came back as 3 out of 4 mild valve leak and something called tortuous artery ...was discharged after advice to continue the beta blockers/statins as blood pressure was still issue

4 months on breathlessness getting worse on excertion, chest tightness and palpitations...have been docs who diagnosed asthma (pump issued) n ordered X-ray ...which has come back as showing my heart enlarged ?

Now booked in for another ECG n blood test and maybe other tests pending ..my question would this not have been picked up on the echogramme/ct scan 3 months ago ?

Feeling bit stressed tbh and just want to feel normal again

Sorry for length of post and thanks in advance for any advice x

If you have any lung problems even asthma over time your heart will enlarge because it has to work harder. X

Hi Boudica1

Thanks for your reply

How long would this take as asthma is only recently diagnosed as in last two weeks no other issues before April ?

It varies from person to person, the same as asthma. If it's mild and or under control then you know yourself you can breathe easier and get the air into your lungs so the heart does not have to work so hard in getting the oxigen to the rest of your body.

Unless the doctors are concerned about your heart they will not do much if anything except to keep an eye on things now and then.

It's more about how your heart is working that matters, so if it's doing its job well then maybe having a big heart is good as it can pump more blood to all the bits that need it.

But talk to your doctor about your concerns they are more able than me to explain things. Remember one thing, heart's are amazing things and like people they are not all the same. One of my son's heart is slightly farther over the the so called "norm" and he's fit and healthy. Mine beats differently but it never stopped me from doing anything including having 4 kids.

So relax breath easy and try not to worry. Let the doctors do all the hard work, that's what they are there for and that's what they are doing.

You to and maybe think about looking into relaxation techniques to help stop the vicious cycle of worrying and tension which leads to breathing problems and chest pain. You have enough to contend with without adding extra pressure into the mix.

Easier said than done at times I know but it can help.

Good luck with the tests you have to do and remember each one that comes back ok is one more less to worry about.
