perfusion scan
Hello there - having a perfusion scan certainly is very helpful in deciding whether some needs treatment for a narrow artery in the heart.
Sometimes an artery can be narrowed, but the blood flow to that part of the heart muscle is fine so in these cases it might be decided a stent isn't necessary. Although we may still insert a stent or perform bypass surgery if that person is having angina symptoms due to the narrowing.
I hope this helps - but I appreciate it's quite complicated so if you'd like to chat to one of our helpline nurses they're available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday on 0300 330 3311.
Take care,
Chris
