Cardiac perfusion scan
Hello
Is it a myocardial perfusion scan you are having ? x
Yes it is and scared of machine already
Hello
These tests always seem more frightening than when we actually get there and have them done
I have put you a link on I got it of the BHF site which is very reliable and it explains this test
I hope it helps and let us know how you get on x
Hello
I just watched the video I sent you and maybe it has not helped which I am sorry if that has happened
But even though I have not had this done I have been in that machine taking scans quite a few times
Now I am agoraphobic as well as claustrophobic so the worst combination you can get to be going in one of those machines
But I knew it had to be done as I needed the answers
I was a wreck but there is no need to be
The Nurses are lovely let them know how you feel they will reassure you
You are not in there long at all before you know it well you are out again
I found trying to count or sing a song in my head to distract me helped and mainly it was not as bad as I thought it would be
The fear of the unknown is the worse and I bet once you have had it done even if it may not be your favourite thing if you had to have it done again you would not feel afraid
Let us know how you get on and tell yourself everyday I will not worry today as it is not happening today
You can do it and to get the answers and peace of mind will be worth it x
Well if you coped with both phobias I should too
You will honestly trust me
I now have been agoraphobic 23 years so just getting there was a challenge I felt I had done the procedure I was so drained but I do not like feeling trapped either and that I cannot get out of somewhere I always have to be able to feel fresh air to
But I did it , I will not say I liked it but still who likes any procedure
You are right though if I managed it I know you can and will and I am looking forward to hearing when you have had it done because I know how proud you will feel and then you can start getting anything that needs doing if it does sorted x
Hi megnben. In my experience, it was really nothing to fear. My head was in the scanner but I wore a mask over my eyes which helped a lot. Hope it goes well for you.
Is this the same as a mri stress test where they inject something to make your heart go faster? I went in backwards ie feet first and head facing down not up. It was in a private setting mind so don’t now if that makes any difference?
When I had this test done the scanner used wasn't a tunnel machine, it had a head which rotated around the body on an arm.
I'm pretty sure your head is in the scanner, but it is a big machine and it is not squishy and only the chest is mainly in it. I was watching the top of the scanner and watched it slowly turning round. On the other hand, an MRI scanner is like a small tunnel and is more claustrophobic.
