Got my appointment today it's for the 12th January so it has been about 6 weeks wait which is not to bad at all. First time I have seen it referred to as an MRI Perfusion Scan rather than a Stress MRI !!!!
So lets get on with Christmas now it's all organised for January that's the MRI not Christmas lol
Just a question for anyone been recently for a scan did you wear a mask in the scanner ??
Happy Christmas Everyone

I have Moderate Heart Failure and I am on max medication my being Breathless has started to be more of a problem, so Cardiologist wants to check in his words to " Guide Intervention Approach "
Not much they can do , I have had Bypass surgery and Stents in an an already bypassed LAD my RCA is 100% blocked and would be a bit Risky to try to clear, but if it would help I would be willing to risk it !!!! The other note on the letter said "We know this gentleman has Complex Cardio Anatomy " I don't think he was kidding LOL this started in 1982 !!
Wish you good luck. I have 100% blocked LAD and i achieved natural bypass hence now asymptomatic.if intervention is risky esselstyn/ornish protocol might help.I still have 21% ischemia in LAD and 6% in RCA in june21 nuclear perfusion scan.my base line had 6 arteries blocked with one 100% blocked, four 90% blocked and one 50% blocked. You might achieve natural bypass. Just a thought
Hello
Love your positive approach wish it would rub of on me
Glad you corrected us that it is the scan in Jan and not Christmas , I nearly took my tree back down
I went for tests and scans back in August now
All the Nurses etc had their masks on but I was told to remove mine
It could have all changed now but that is what happened for me when I had my scans done
I had to have my nose cauterised on Monday and of course even though I wanted to keep my mask on the Doctor said I cannot do it with that on
I asked well how will I be safe then ?
His reply was he had his on so it would be me breathing any germs on him not the other way round so I thought well that sounds ok then
I suppose all Hospitals maybe different in their approach but they will tell you when you get there what their procedure is
I had a myocardial perfusion scan in September at the JR in Oxford. I have also had a regular mri for my shoulder at a different hospital more recently and on neither occasion was I made to wear my mask whilst in the scanner.
The MPS scanner ( at the JR at least) is not the same as an mri scanner. For this one i sat in a chair not dissimilar to a dentist chair and the scanner is lowered across the chest leaving the arms and head free so is much less constricting and takes less time as well.
Good question about masks. I've got an MRI (not heart related) booked for Feb or March, and last time I had one (heart related) it took twice as long as it should have as I kept having mini panic attacks and the techs had to wait while I got my breathing back under control. A mask won't help me with that. Good luck with your stressy one in Jan
Personally I don't, as I have Sjogren disease, also if you are in the far end of tube, it quite cramped, so you might not want to wear one. Good Luck 🌷
