Myocardial perfusion scan

Hi members

Please can any one tell me how difficult it is to pass this scan and treadmill stress test and how soon you receive your results

I’m hoping to return back to work very soon after this test

I had one in Jan this year and had the results within a couple of weeks. I found the overall test ok, however, it does take a while to acclimatize, particularly if your are not partial to confined spaces. The actual test is straight forward you literally lay there and breathe in and out as instructed. No real downsides apart from it’s quite noisy. But absolutely nothing to worry about, overall I found the experience quite relaxing 😎

I have had this done November last year however I have not even had the results yet as all my appointments were cancelled due to Covid 19

It was not at all stressful or worrying even though I was concerned it was absolutely fine

This was something I dreaded a couple of years ago now, had a trial stress test attempt at the beginning of my cardiac rehab which I honestly struggled with after 2/3 minutes I was knackered and felt totally demoralised believing I'd never pass the test, but after completing rehab I flew through the test, rehab was brilliant I advise anyone to stick with it

I had one last December - very easy and no treadmill - initially they inject you with dye and you wait a while for the next stage to let it circulate - they only injected me with something to make my heart work faster and made be do small leg raising exercises whilst on an ECG. Then there was a bit of a wait and the scan was done. I had to go back 2 weeks later for a repeat of the scan with no stress test element.

It really was easy and nothing to worry about. The only down side was the amount of time it takes as there are a couple of approximately 45min waiting periods between stages so it took a full morning for the 1st days tests and only about 1 hour for the follow up test.
