Hi. I had a heart attack 2.5 weeks ago and had an emergency angioplasty and 2 stents. I ride my bike on and off for around 10 Mums today and now I have chest discomfort and a a little pain. Is this normal or am I just being over cautious

Many thanks for any advice

Lisa

I’m 4 days out, so reading literature quite fresh. Chest discomfort and pain should be reported straight away. I’m sure it said about pain for a while, but two and a half sounds like enough time for the normal post op pains to go. Call the doctor, cardiac nurse or 111

Too much, too soon! Were you given no advice/guidance on discharge? If not you need to make a complaint so their procedures are updated!

As others have said you need to get it checked out. I suspect in these early days you may have caused the stents to irritate the artery. Pre rehab just gentle walks and pottering.

I presume you had discharge guidance after your stents, I certainly did. Going by the guidance I had I would not have touched my bike until they said it was ok. I gradually built back up by walking, any pain and discomfort telling me ' that's enough'. At 2 weeks i was doing about a mile. Very early days for you even if you were super fit

Hi.

Just had my rehab assessment on Thursday last week after ha and two stents fitted 3 weeks ago and they said I couldn’t ride my bike for a few more weeks yet.

Try getting into rehab as they helped me with my 100 questions 😂😂

Hope this helps a little

Did they give you a GTN spray to use if you get chest pain?

I was told the heart gets irritated with any touching/interference (like stenting) then takes a while to settle down.
