Miocarditis and indoor bike

Hi, I have miocarditis and so far my daily exercise was a small 20 - 30 minutes walk around the neighborhood. I have been in doors for 10 days now and will continue indoors for the next 12 weeks. But I miss my daily work. Can I use an indoor bike to get a bit of exercise? I still get chest pain if I get too agitated, e.g. walk to fast, dance.

I'm going to do likewise starting today (with my 2 boys)...they all say that don't they!

I think it's a great idea, but don't over do it! Mildly out of breath and don't over tax yourself is my moto.

We've printed off a chart we've made up with our names, days, distance covered, for the next four weeks. They fancy cycling Edinburgh to London, maybe even Paris. Think I'll be happy enough Edinburgh to Glasgow!

Anyway good luck.

I'd be grateful to make it from my home 'up the glens' to Dundee on my imaginary bike tour. Good inspiration, I think I'm going to give it a go! If I don't keel over, I'll try for from here to Aberdeen and I do have a DVD of the route to watch whilst pedalling.

The phones lines to your doctor are probably jammed but if you can get through, ask her/him for an official 'go on then' and any guidelines they have for exercise including on the stationary bike.

The general advice for myocarditis is probably much the same as for pericarditis (I'm trying to recover from an acute flare) - give it a go but stop immediately if pain and/or shortness of breath happens. If recovery is rapid (under 3-5 minutes), try for another go.

But always stop if pain and/or shortness of breath occurs, and if recovery is longer than 3-5 minutes, do not resume until you've been able to get through to the medic.

I Had myocarditis in January. Last week of colchicine. Still getting chest pain and fatigue. I envy your cycling! I find talking too much caused chest pain!! Hope you're ok. Good to hear someone else had this inflammation. I was told its a rare condition. Not nice anyway. Hope you are going to inspire me

Hi, I cannot do the bike. I am having pain again and need to be cautious. Recovering from miocarditis takes a long time. I was hospitalized on May last year and after 3 months of colchine I had a MIR. The results came back on February and there is still inflammation on the apex of the heart so I was put on Colchicine again. I miss running and swimming. And now with the virus thing I miss my daily slow stroll. It is difficult when you are used to exercise. Just be patient. And keep in mind that this will take sometime. We will go through this.

thank you for your reply. I have to wait for my MRI with the virus problem going on. But I will be patient and slowly walk up and down the front room! like you said it will take time. stay safe now
