Hello Lisa and welcome to the forum.
I would suggest its best to discuss the symptoms with your GP/Cardiologist and seek their advice. There are so many variables which can cause the symptom and our bodies do react differently post process.
It appears that you have not started your rehab sessions yet? It might be an idea to wait till you are in the safe surroundings while performing the bike exercise?
All the best.
I had similar event and told to do nothing but rest eg light stuff around the house, and rest for 4 weeks. It was explained to me that this was a necessary healing period after heart attack.
Only after this period was I assessed for cardiac rehab and increased physical activity.
Please check what you should be doing as it is very early days
Hi Lisa. After my heart attack last year I was told not to ride a bike for 6 weeks post stent (I only ride stationary ones!). I think it’s to do with the position of the chest leaning over as well as increased pressure in the chest from the leg movement. But as mandm has said discuss with your GP/rehab team. I just concentrated on walking initially until after rehab. Hope that helps. Take care. Zena
Thank you all so much. I did suspect I was over doing it but my husband bought me a new bike and I had to just try it!!! Have contacted cardiac specialist nurse am just waiting for a call back
Thank you again
Lisa
Same as you 3 weeks ago I had a HA. Keen to get back on my bike too. Have they said when you can get back on it ?
If you had a stent put in I’m sure you are on dual platlet therapy (baby aspirin and plavix or a similar drug). Given increased bleeding risks I would also consult your cardiologist about advisability of riding a real bike. I ride a stationary bike 3-4 times a week and will do so until I’m off the plavix.
I was advised not to cycle or indeed play tennis until 12 weeks had elapsed. Subsequently when I had my initial cardio rehab consultation at 7 weeks , post - op, the nurse said I could mix the incessant walking with cycling. Happy days. Confess I have been hitting some tennis balls but only experiencing some muscular stiffness the following day. Hardly surprising after a 2 month layoff.
Great to be back on the bike but keeping within the prescribed heart rate zone so hills still challenging at this point in recovery. Recovery and stamina improving weekly, albeit slowly and incrementally. Clocking the miles - reaping the benefits.
