Just after same again as have developed weird symptom which am unsure is related ...
Last 2 days have had weird wavy sparkling in vision lasting 10mins or so no severe headache just a twinge ...very weird sensation almost like eyes are crossing !!
I know it can be related to migraine but as no headache wondered if I should be concerned??
I drive a fair bit and am worried it could happen whilst driving as came on without any warning !!
Advice would be welcomed
Many thanks have good day

What you are describing sounds like a visual migraine (have a look on google). It’s something that is transient, affects your vision only (no headaches etc) but is quite disconcerting. I used to get this before I retired but, touch wood, I’ve not had any occurrence for that last 18 months or so. I’ve not seen anything to say these are either dangerous or symptomatic of something else.
Not convinced Dr. Google is best way to go. I would clarify with a GP. I have just upped my dose of Beta Blockers and get a very similar thing, especially if I stand up after sitting down. This is all to do with the blood pooling in the feet and lack of blood pressure to get the blood back to the brain. Does the visual disturbance happen at any particular time? I also have AF and can get dizziness at any time
If i were you I'd get an eye test. I had odd visual effect, my gp said probably migraine but get an eye test. Specsavers said there is something very wrong. This turned out to be a very rare brain abcess, two operations and a month in hospital. What i had was very rare but an eyetest can find all sorts of things
Hi Angie, I've had 'silent migraines' in my time which start with a prism type light very small and then increases until it reaches the outer parts of my vision and then disappears. I've noticed since my bypass 11 weeks ago that I have had some sparks that appear, I am on beta blockers and BP tablets. I'm going for a sight test and check up tomorrow at my opticians. It maybe something you want to consider. Good luck
It does sound like a type of migraine you can get whilst taking medication. You do need to visit your GP as soon as possible so they can check your eye health and refer you, if required, to a specialist optician who will check your eyes very thoroughly. It is quite frightenning the first time it happens. I was scared stupid. I had something like this after open heart surgery. I would get a wavy line which developed into a prism in my vision and then move outwatds from the centre to the edge. Consultant said it can happen and can be caused by anaesthetics etc leaving the body. Optician confirmed this after a very thorough exam and told me not to have my eyes tested for 6 months as they can fluctuate considerably during this time scale. I found paracetamol didnt help, as a day after taking a couple I would have one of these migraines. Good luck, let us know how you get on.
Is this like a crystal sparkling line? I have had this for many years now and certainly before taking any heart tablets. It is a precurser to a migraine but not eveeryone gets the migraine. Doctor said it is harmless and comes and goes. I used the get them twice a week but now only about once a month. Damned nuisance if driving when it happens though! Get some good driving sun filtering glasses. Don't worry though. Check with your optician if you like.
Interesting reading this. I have suffered from visual migraine for about 10 years, maybe more. Only more recently diagnosed with hypertension. I did wonder if they were linked. I get no headache but the visual disturbance lasts 20-30 mins. At its peak sometimes I can hardly see. No headache at all. Have also realised there's a big mood swing about 48 hrs or more before. It's almost like going into a depressed state, which is what I thought it was but then realised after several episodes there was a pattern to it. Next time I get that feeling/state I will measure my BP to see if there's any change. It's quite sporadic though, happening only a handful of times per year. Doesn't appear to be a trigger.
Yes I did the same. You might find as I did that it's nothing to do with the eyes, even though the problem 'appears' to be visual. BTW I still don't have an answer in how to stop it. I tried very expensive Triptan nasal spray but that did nothing at all. At least when I get the mood swing, I know roughly when it's going to happen now. It used to just used to take me by surprise!! Has happened when driving as well. Just have to pull over somewhere for 20 mins.
