I am new here! I have been on Amlopodine for 12 months and Atorvastatin for 6 months and have found I am losing my hair rapidly. I have discovered Amlopodine can cause hair loss, a doctor said I could stop the Atorvastatin for 2 months t see if that will help, can the amlopodine also have a holiday or reduced comsumption? The doctor telephone manner was hurried.

I’m having hair loss issues and spoke to my cardiologist who says it’s realated to my heart condition not my meds but been put on a med to prevent it.
This is the first I have heard of hair loss in relation to heart conditions. I now have alopecia in addition to heart disease and the tablets taken for that.

Hi I started to lose my hair last October. It was about 3 months after my heart attack. My doctor felt it was a combination of shock and medication. She also prescribed me an anti fungal shampoo as my scalp was irritated. Of all the things happening to me this felt the worst! Daft isn’t it. Anyway I also found a hairdresser from the Trevor Sorbie charity site My New Hair. (His sister had alopecia following chemo so he wanted to help). They have a list of hairdressers who have been trained to deal with alopecia issues in terms of styling as well as wigs. This is the site
I went there fully prepared to get a wig! However the stylist sat with me for about an hour (I cried!!). And suggested nioxin shampoo. And she said to trust her with a different cut and different colour. I’m glad I did. I had it cropped really short and coloured much darker and it made such a difference. It’s still patchy but not as noticeable. Hope the site is helpful to you. Zena x
