Has anyone experienced weight gain on Dabigatran? I had mitral valve repair in January was on it before surgery and after out on warfarin but since then gp swopped back. Lost 8lbs in hospital but since changing meds put on another 8lbs? Would love to hear if anyone else has this problem?

I have not heard of any anti-coagulant causing weight gain. The usual side effects relate mainly to bleeding - increased nose bleeds, bad bruising, etc. Interpreting your post I think you have been out of hospital for about three months which equates to a weight gain of under a pound a week. Sorry but I suspect you need to cut your calorie intake slightly.

However, you should discuss this with your GP to ensure there is not another issue like fluid retention.
