Today I saw my Cardiologist, it’s the 1st appointment I’ve had since my AVR 9 months ago.
Well everything fine and working as it should, I still have a small murmur, but apparently that’s normal and nothing to worry about. I don’t have to take Beta Blockers anymore. My next check up is in 2yrs 2020.
I didn’t realise how relieved it would make me feel, and subconsciously I think that’s what’s been holding me back.
So it’s good news day. I’ve been very fortunate that every stage has been text book. He’s pretty certain that Peppa Pig will keep my heart 💓 ticking for a good 15 yrs 🐖 and I can stop taking the beta blockers.
Once again thanks to you all for your support, and I will continue keeping up with everyone and helping others who are facing the daunting prospect of Open Heart Surgery by sharing my experience
and tips. Love to all you Heart Warriors

Thank you for sharing your good news, KazSumm. Release from the dreaded beta blockers is an added bonus - I always felt they took the edge off life and although protective, kind of suppressed a lot of things. On a more personal level, thank you for your generous support of my forum queries- always helpful and upbeat. Good job I wish your piglet well!
Do you know what IanGordon I’ve only been off the Beta Blockers 3 days now and I feel so different, your right they do suppress everything, instead of feeling comfortable numb I’ve got that buzz back. I was only on a low dose so god knows what a high dose feels like. Hopefully one day soon you too can have your buzz back. Peppa pig 🐷 says honk honk 😂
Thank you Kaz I’m doing OK. Still waiting for my thyroid to settle down so I can have the cardioversion. Hoping that this last increase in meds does the trick.
I don’t know where the sunshine has gone, we are in Swanage with our little grandson and it was pretty chilly on the beach today. Last week it was too hot for him. British Weather!!
What a coincidence! We have a holiday home in Swanage, such a joy to be able to bring the grandchildren down often as the beach is so safe for them.
Thank you Kaz, interesting to hear that you take your meds at night. My thyroid is overactive and has been affected by my op. I currently take half my meds in the morning and half at night, hoping to be able to go back to my ticking over dose when it has calmed down again.
I have the opposite my thyroid is under active, I have been taking my levothyroxine at night for the last 2 yrs and noticed a big difference, and my dosage went from 100 to now 75 a few weeks after I started taking it at night. It settled back really quickly after my op and has remained . Hope your building sandcastle Kaz❤️💖💕
Thank you for putting a word Kaz, I m afraid it was a bit too late for our grandson as he went home to Mummy and Daddy today. We managed a brief session on the beach on Friday and lots of other fun things well wrapped up ever since. At least I didn’t have to worry about hoping getting sunburnt.
Good to hear that your thyroid is behaving itself with less meds, interesting that taking the meds at night makes such a difference.
Great to hear positive news post surgery. I still await what’s happening to me but I worry more about the after effects of surgery. Your report here fills me with joy.
I know your surgery happened suddenly and I wonder if the pre worrying stuff just makes it all worst. I’m trying my best to forget it all as much as I can. After all, none of us knows what’s round the corner.
No restrictions, and today I moved 1ton of soil, dug up 4ft palm tree 🌴 and moved it to its new home. I never felt any need to be concerned about my heart, I just got the usual muscle ache after doing a lot of physical work. Had a hot bath and feel fine. It’s so nice to be back to normal 😂
Hope you are feeling more uplifted, don’t punish yourself to much, I’m not motivated, ok when I’m not working 😂 sorry that you have been made redundant, like they say “when one door shuts another will open”you seem so talented making things may be start your own cottage industry .
I have big issues with food, would love to eat the good stuff but can’t be bothered to make it, so quick easy one pot meals for me . I need to loose2 Stone so would love to be your 12st and a bit 😂 Fitbit telling me too move does it not realise I’ve been up since 4.30am for work 😆 dinners in the oven and I’ve got a gorgeous cappuccino cupcake for later 🍰 it’s sin Sunday I’ll be good tomorrow promise. So I hope this makes you feel better. Keep forever smiling Kaz ❤️💕💖
Thanks, Kaz. I'm feeling much better today, just hearing back from so many people in the same boat has given me a good boost. I really am quite excited about the redundancy thing too, though it does feel a bit strange at the moment. I've had itchy feet in my job for years (it was easy and fitted in with my life but not very fulfilling) so I'm glad to have finally acted on those niggles and taken advantage of the redundancy opportunity. I do have some exciting ideas lined up, but am having a couple of weeks of relaxation first I reckon Fitbit is designed for people who don't have to work (me at the moment - ha!) as it's so hard to get the steps when you are stuck at a desk all day. I've actually been very good today - out for a walk in the sunshine and then a quick visit to the pool. Would love a slice of cappuccino cake though - my fave! Hope you enjoy yours
