When are you going on holiday - the less time since your surgery the more difficult it will be. Follow the link for a recommendation- healthunlocked.com/bhf/post...

I am awaiting a quadruple bypass and have no intention of going outside England or Scotland until at least three/four months after.

Based on my own experience, just use one of the comparison websites. If you are going on holiday at least 6 weeks post surgery you are likely to get a quote, if its less they are much less likely to quote. Be prepared to get a highish quote compared to what you might have had in the past. I had a triple CABG and had no issues getting worldwide (incl. US, Caribbean and China) travel insurance.

Hi, was this the travel insurance page you tried? healthunlocked.com/bhf/post...

It seems to be working fine for me, maybe try again? There's lots of useful info on there. Good luck.

Hi no just went on to travel insurance on the main page I’ll try again thanks for that!

If you are a woman over 50 (or a man with a wife over 50) you can join a Women's Institute group for £41 and buy their group travel insurance policy. It is £195 for 12 months multi-trips worldwide. They don't ask about medical conditions & will accept anyone UNLESS they have a terminal illness, are travelling against doctors advice , or travelling abroad in order to get medical treatment. In the last 3 weeks I had 38 insurance companies refuse to cover my heart conditions.

Have you tried the BHF website list of sympathetic travel insurance companies bhf.org.uk/publications/hea...

I had a heart attack 7 years ago and was in a similar position to you trying to get insurance for a holiday I'd already booked. Talking to a friend she had used flexicover and had to call on them after being hospitalised in Spain with a heart problem. She said they paid up not problem. I went with them and did actually have to cancel my holiday and found they paid up fine. I used them until last year and they have had to pay out to me a second time. Last year they changed their underwriters so I went with All Clear. this year Flexicover have accepted me. I have had a heart attack and atrial septal defect repair and now have atrial fibrilation and heart failure so quite a raft of risks.
