Hi I had an angioplasty 2 weeks ago after a very sudden and completely unexpected heart attack. I have recovered really well but my chest feels really tight (no pain) is this normal? Still trying to get my head round all this! Thank you in advance.

Hello, pleased to hear that you have survived your event. I had similar in October and was left with twinges in different places between the insertion and then around my heart. I guess we are all different and need to mention what we feel to the professionals. Maybe you have a residual anxiety over the experience. Good luck.

Hi thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely mention it to my GP but feel happier just receiving replies from this site.

I found I couldn’t rest on my left side and had a tight pain in my left chest for a good few weeks after stents. I rang the Cardiac liaison nurse who told me angioplasty can irritate the heart, it’s been disturbed! Always good to check pain In the chest after a heart attack, but it might be v simple!

I had chest tightness for weeks following my stenting. Mention this to your cardiac nurse or GP. Anxiety after this "surprise" is normal. Hope things ease for you soon.

Hi thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely mentioned this to my GP but already feel happier reading the replies from this site.

I agree it is probably anxiety. I have had it since having pacemaker fitted in November. It is starting to get less and less now. Take care and if unsure ask the doc

Had mine the end of december. Can empathise. Dont forget an artery has been disturbed/ maybe irritated by the catheter procedure so it may take a while to settle. Also your heart is being given a new lease of life by a fresh larger dose of aterial blood/oxygen that it didnt have pre your attack so your body like mine will be readjusting to its new found pace and maybe giving you at times strange adjustment sensations. Also meds like blood thinners e.g. tricagelor etc i have been told can make you feel breathless/ congested at first

I have had some weird chest sensations since my procedure and quite frankly at times i think we are also just more acutely conscious of our chest sensations having been through these procedures which may make us feel a tad over-aware/psychologically tense in that area.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Geoff
