Hi, is there any one out there that can tell me more about myocarditis? I'm a 57 yr old female and was admitted to hospital a month ago with chest pains. I'd had a few pains for a few days before but put it down to having walked too much while on holiday in St Ives. At first, Doctor thought all was ok as ECG and blood pressure ok by the time he saw me in A&E but following a blood test, he told me I'd had a mild heart attack. Spent five days in hospital, had many ECG's, CT scan, Echocardiogram etc., Not much information given to me even though I think I saw a total of 12 different senior and junior doctors. Was discharge and told I would get an appointment to return for an MRI. I had that 2 weeks ago and still not had results. My own GP told me that the hospital had diagnosed myocarditis and told me what that was but said he wasn't a specialist and the cardio team at the hospital would be better so to wait for them to get in touch with MRI results. I want to know if the inflammation will go away or can it return at any time? I've Googled it of course and that can be upsetting..! Feels a bit like I have a ticking time bomb in my chest. I'd like to go back to work but not sure how long I should wait? Any advice from anyone who's been through the same?

Hello,
there are a few threads on here covering this,

Hopefully those are of some use, one of our lovely members may also be able to provide some personal insight as well.
From a personal point of view I find googling symptoms and diagnoses pretty scary and have learned not to be swayed as the first few pages tend to cover the graphic rather than the norm. You should get your follow up with your cardiologist sooner rather than later
take care
Mark
I don't have any knowledge on your condition, sorry. Poor you, being left in a situation where you have to google. Try not to let google results scare you, they rarely reflect your own situation accurately. Hopefully you will hear from your cardiologist soon. In the meantime, you could call the BHF heart helpline on 0300 330 3311? All the best x
