When applying for travel insurance for Pre - existing medical conditions, anyone know how far back the travel insurance want to know, when you had a medical condition.
One year, ten years just never know how many years you have to declare to the travel insurers.

Hi, I used to work as a nurse for a travel insurance company and it very much depends on the policy wording. It should say something like if you have EVER had...... or if you have had in the past year or 2 years..... Check this very carefully as this is what they will use to decide whether you are covered.
I played safe and spoke to the insurance company on the phone. It takes ages but you know they have all the details and you are certain you will be covered. We are all dealing with enough uncertainty without adding to it. I found Staysure fair and thorough.
I normally use BUPA travel insurance which is always more expensive than othe travel insurance company's and yes it takes ages, but hopefully I give the correct answer to all the questions.
Hi.... if you have a bank account that you pay for.... normally around £10 per month... these bank accounts normally come with travel insurance. You would still have to pay extra for your medical conditions but I have found them reasonable In their coatings.
Also where the banks offer travel insurance they tend to use reputable firms that offer good cover. It's just not worth it to them to offer poor cover as they want your current account business. And do not want any bad press. My "extra" anoint for my condition was reasonable ... and they explained that once I had an ICE implant the cost would go down.. . As they recognise this device to protect your heart.
I would always declare any past conditions and explain if it is no longer relevant.... that way you can never be accused of non disclosure. Good luck.. .. and happy travels
I had one of these so called bank packages. I didn't know I had a heart condition until my heart attack, but they refused to pay out to cover a trip that I had to cancel. Still going through the insurance ombudsman for that, so I'd be very wary of using again
Sorry to hear about your experience. Not good. I would suggest you contact your bank and say that you pay for your current account to take advantage of the benefits offered. You trusted your bank to work with a reputable company for your travel insurance however on first claim (and stress you were unaware of any ill health issues when you signed up) that they are now refusing to pay out... which is leading to you having further stress in your life as you are having to go through the ombudsman. Thus you feel this bank account is not as advertised "offering comprehensive benefits and cover" tell then that you are currently speaking with watchdog who are interested in highlighting your case... as well as the daily mail. I would also mention that you are on a number of social sites including this one where you feel it is important to warn others.
Banks do not want the bad publicity and normally don't want their benefits to be rubbished. I think this could get them to pay out. Don't let them say that it's up to the travel insurance company. You bought the benefits through your bank because you put your trust in them. So it is their issue.
Ps I don't work for any bank.
I hope you get a good outcome and sorry to hear the travel company didn't cough up!
