Medications
I take a host of medication, too many to talk about however, I would like to share my experience of one particular drug that will probably be commonly used by members on this forum.
In 2004, I commenced on Ramipril 5 mg daily for hypertension but soon had to change from this ACE inhibitor to an ARB due to persistant dry cough.
I stared with 8 mg Candesartan for labile hypertension and within 18 months I was taking 32 mgs of Candesartan plus 25 mgs HCT from 2011 - 2015 when my BP plummeted to <90 mmmg systolic. This was described as an episode of acute cardiac decompensation . A doctor checking my renal function also checked a Renin value which was in excess of 1560 ... way too high!!
My point is that the Renin value was never checked before and is something that should be checked periodically. My dosage is creeping up again and I am currently taking 16 mg Candesartan with 12.5 mg HCT. I never want to experience this decompensation again, I though my number was up,
