Hand and scalp psoriasis

Hi everyone

This is my first post here, I have been taking Amgevita (Biologics) for rheumatiod arthritis for 2 years now and for the last 6 months I have scalp psoriasis and the only thing that works a bit is Nioxin 3 stage shampoo, it calms the little bumps down for a few days then they return. The Capasal shampoo my GP gave my was no good. Now my wrists and finger tips have psoriasis. Eumovate and Fucibet works for a day but the little painful cuts and skin peels return. My question is if you suffer from this what cream or shampoo works for you?

Your on a generic biologic (humira) you need to go back to the Rheumatologist …. Did you have psoriasis when you were diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I just got the news from my Rheumy that I will be moving over to "Etanercept" which is another bio and I did not have psoriasis ever until a few months ago.

I would suspect you then have Psoriatic Arthritis

Hi: I have had great success with Neutrogena’s T-Gel shampoo but I had to use it for at least 2 months before it worked effectively. Some say not to use anything with tar, but it worked for me and it maintained a calm clean scalp for many years. I don’t have psoriasis on my scalp anymore so I have not used it for a decade. I’ve had psoriasis for almost 50 years and, while we all experience it differently, for what it’s worth my best advice is to live the healthiest (diet, sleep, exercise, keep alcohol to a minimum, etc) and least stressful lifestyle than is possible for you in your circumstances. Also, it’s important to forgive yourself for any self incriminations you might carry…thisnis rarely discussed but it’s important. Wishing you good health and many blessings!

Thanks so much for this and @Batty 1 for the replies. The Nioxin is calming my scalp down but it does return so I will give the T Gel a go soon. Hopefully this new biologic will help as well.

I got on well with T-Gel too.

I’ve been free of scalp psoriasis for a good while 🤞

Not been as lucky with the rest of my body though 😤

Good luck with it 🙂👍

I stopped taking the steroidal creams as they were having no effect and took sooooo long to apply. They just seem to make the lesions fade but the effect is only fleeting

I’ve come to the conclusion that only sunlight works for me but I’m reluctant to get my legs out as they’re so bad. I’m using the Epimax cream in the bath at present and that does seem to speed up the sloughing. I’m using aloe Vera gel for the first time but no improvement thus far 😤

I spent a few hours outdoors yesterday 🏃‍♀️hoping that exposing face, arms and legs to the sun would help top up my vitamin d D levels

I hope your hands continue to improve. I like the Body Shop hemp hand cream 🙂

Have you tried Vtama? It is a cream you can put almost anywhere. My insurance doesn’t cover it but my copay after coupon pharmacist applied was $35.
