Given up on me

Hi, I know I will sound ridiculous to most people but I have been told that I am obese and need to lose weight and since then my mind had worked in the opposite way and I have put on another stone. My husband left me when I was slimmer and now I am left caring for my elderly parents and looking after my grandchildren full time. I have a few health problems as do my two best friends so I feel incredibly lonely and have little motivation to improve myself.

I have been on this site a few years ago and was surprised by the support I got .

Please help this 52 year old going on 80!

I've heard mention that a negative is less motivating than a positive, and it sounds like you might be caught on the negatives. We're all guilty if it.

The explanation is that when you focus on the negatives, you focusing on punishing yourself, and you can punish yourself by restricting or by doubling down with the unhealthy habits.

You don't have to pick big positive goals, just little ones, like how nice it'd be to be able to touch your toes, but if you can find a little positive things, it might help more.

Thank you for your reply Cooper27, it's been a tough few years but you have hit the nail on the head and I am doing my utmost to try to find positives and in general I do.

I know that once I start properly, I can do it , I have before but I am at my heaviest and just a bit low atm.

It would help if my mother wasn't a feeder 🤣
