6 months ago on Sunday was my 58th Birthday which i forgot to celebrate because of a long weekend in A&E. As Sunday is the 23rd also i have decided on a delayed celebration.

Despite Covid , I've booked lunch for one but need a few more ideas of how to celebrate and am open to suggestions....

Do you enjoy National trust gardens? We went to one yesterday ,it was so good to go out.Although very windy,it was nice to go somewhere different ,and easy to be socially distanced. The kiosks were open so coffee and cake available!

That is an excellent idea. Did you have to book ? I've just looked at Speke Hall and Erddig but they seem to be a bit off the beaten track. So I'd have to choose carefully, Thx for the idea. It is still going to be a must for summer.

When i was at school we went to Speke hall but only for the house. So exploring the gardens would be a must.

Hi Greyone

A very happy birthday for tomorrow ( a little early as I won't be around until later in the day).

It's my birthday next Sunday too!

How about a trip to a Museum, always something to look at and places to sit down and rest weary legs.

What ever you do enjoy it!

and a very happy birthday to you Chloe. A museum is a great idea. I have not been inside mine for many years and usually go near it because the Winter Watch parade starts outside. Its also a great time to show support in these difficult times. Mine is open Tuesday – Thursday: 10.30am – 1pm and 2 – 4.30pm . So I'm going to try for Tuesday or Thursday afternoon just before tea time. I'll post again in the week to share my experiences.

I must admit that it is the first time i indulged in a 3 course meal. usually one or two at the most. But that was rare. of course i had to start with a visit to mum and dad. Just a week early though.

One thing i noticed about eating out is how my mood changes depending on where i sit and how I'm served. This time i was sitting in one of those four seater booths with a little telly and the sound turned right down. I had a proper table number , not like 4B the last time so i could make use of the app to order everything. After the started the lady said "would you like you main course now "? That was a first as well. What surprise me was the sombre mood and lighting. It did so match the times. I did not even mind the feeling of being alone. That seemed appropriate.

I managed to keep myself entertained by listening to the secret life of prisons podcast. Otherwise i may very well have bene bored to death. After my allocated 2 hours it was time for home. This was when the warm glow faded rapidly and beyond that i have yet to look.

One interesting suggestion i had was to visit a National Trust Garden. When i was at primary school , we had an outing to the house at Speke Hall We never got to go in to t he gardens so i suppose a visit there would be similar to completing a journey. Whether i would feel like a 20 minute walk after public transport I'm not yet sure. That's the problem with these places. never built on Town Centres. But who knows maybe one Saturday before Winter strikes,

I like your idea of a museum though. Mine is open 3 days mid week for a few hours each side of lunch. But at least its not off the beaten track. Maybe a treat for September.

I hope your plans for next weekend are shaping up nicely.
