Anyone got any advice/info on pregnancy in a behcet's sufferer? I'm seeing my rheumatologist in a couple of weeks so no doubt I will bombard him with questions but want to make sure I've thought of/covered everything. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Pregnancy and Behcet's
The Behcets Syndrome Society has a fact sheet on pregnancy on its website if you have any problems finding it send an email to info@behcetsdisease.org.uk
hi I had my second child when I had arthritis but I hadnt been officially diagnosed so was not on any medication. Towards the end of my pregnancy I felt better then I had felt in years with no joint pain or other symptoms so I really hope this is the same for you. Unfortunately my symptoms did return after pregnancy.
Good luck

Hi I have a 1 year old and recently found out I am expecting my second! I remained on prednisolone during my first pregnancy as had eye complications and terrible ulcers and the pregnancy was ok. I had hydrocortisone during labour and then had to have heparin after the birth for a few weeks.
I am not on steroids now and so far have been quite poorly in this pregnancy. Ulcers have flared worse than they have for months and feeling quite run down. Mind you I am running around after a toddler this time so prob to be expected!
Best of luck, keep us posted xx
I'm off to see my consultant tomorrow afternoon, armed with a list of questions.
Luckily i'm currently not on a course of oral steriods but have topical treatment for my ulcers at the moment, I'm on non-steriodal anti-inflammatories and opiods which i know i will have to be off.
Just don't know if i'll need more check ups/scans than a normal pregnancy, will it restrict my work/flying, what happens if i have a flare etc etc
It's good to know that there are other BD sufferers out there with successful pregnancies.
Thanks xx
How did your appointment go? I also use topical treatments (becotide inhaler and dermovate cream). I only had one extra scan but that was because I had placenta praevia and nothing to do with the Behcet's. I carried on working as normal although I didn't need to fly anywhere. If you have a flare up during the pregnancy your consultant should be able to help you manage that I wouldn't worry too much about that although I know that's easier said than done!
Appointment went well, my consultant is very positive. I am just awaiting all the blood test results now. I was initially diagnosised with Lupus about 10 yrs ago, but diagnosised with Behcets 3 years ago. So they are re-checking all the lupus related blood tests aswell to be 100% sure, felt like I was donating blood, lol!
