I have had extreme stress over the last week. Last night my son told me I looked very flushed, when I looked in the mirror, I had a very raised rash over my cheeks starting from my nose wrapping around over my forehead. When you touch it, it feels like needles pricking me. I have never had this ever!! Woke this morning to massive Migraine and face paining worse, any advice or creams I can use until I can get to my GP?? This looks like a Lupus butterfly not common in Bechets

Might it be Shingles? If so, you need to get treatment promptly from a GP.
Thank you, I was given an anti-inflammatory cream to apply and got Zinc dioxide to apply and that seems to be helping. I was inoculated against Shingles two years ago.
I haven’t been inoculated yet for shingles, however was told that I could easily get it more than once (which was proved quite true). Wishing you all the best.
Hi ZuZu, Budapest has already mentioned it however if you ever do suspect you have shingles you need to get antiviral medication as quick as possible. I have been very fortunate however some people suffer with severe nerve pain for years after having shingles. Hope it isn’t shingles and the anti inflammatories are working 😊
Thank you so much lesleyg I think I need to see my GP first thing in the morning,
Hi there, I think you’re right to get checked by your GP but I just wanted to share that I had this exactly as you describe about 2 years ago and a few times since. For me, it usually coincides with a bad migraine (and I’ve learned that face-flushing can be a symptom of migraine) and I’ve also had terrible overall health as well with some bad flares. I don’t have lupus, and also I don’t get any blistery lumps with the face rash and no one has suggested shingles to me, although this thread is interesting because I had chicken pox three times as a child! Please do let us know how you get on and what your GP says. I got a shrug of the shoulders!
Dear lesleyg & Mrs-Champers I am back from my GP, I have now been given prednisone tablets for the next 5 days to tame this rash on my face. The GP was not happy with what the anti-inflammatory cream was doing on it's own. He did however confirm that it is not shingles. My GP has made an appointment for me to see my Rheumatologist to follow up on this. Something I was scared off as in my mind I was avoiding all consultation rooms during this pandemic until the pain/irritation just became too much. I do remember a very distant chat with my Rheumatologist about different types of rashes in Bechet. Wishing you all the best of health Zuzu
Hi Zuzu798Hope you can get some relief from this it sounds very unpleasant. Did the GP organise blood tests for you, and
What medications are you taking?
Take care
Hi gillianTS I was emailed a list of blood test to do from the Rheumatologist that appointment is on the 9th I'm really lucky the can fit me in so soon. Usually it is a very long waiting list. For now I have cortisone tablets called Panafcort, they not very kind on the tummy so have to take them with a meal. Also not nice to take if you have an active flare in the tummy lining at the same time as it irritates the tummy. But have to push through this. Thank you for caring. Have a great day
Hi Zuzu798
Panafcort / Prednisolone can cause swelling of the face, lips, tongue or any other parts of the body; rash, itching or hives on the skin.
I hope you have now received some advice from your Dr/consultant on this now and feeling better.
Hi gillianTS I am doing so much better, hot water or wearing a mask makes the rash area very irritated, other than that I am healing 🙏 I am seeing the Rheumatologist on this Wednesday the 8th. Will keep you posted. Hope you have a great weekend.
I get rashes just like that on occasion but not on my face. The time I had it the worst, the doctor put me on a week long dose of prednisone.
I didn’t wait to see my doctor because I was in New Orleans and not at home in Washington State. I went to an out patient clinic my sister recommended… almost immediately. Well, the first day it was small and the second day it just kept spreading more and more. So, off to the doctor I went.
I wouldn’t recommend putting anything on it. I did take Benadryl because I had been working in my sister’s yard and I have allergies and thought that might have been part of the problem. I don’t remember if it worked for me or not. The prednisone however, worked fairly quickly . It was nice.🤓
Hi Zuzu798 , I was just wondering how you are and how got on with your rheumatologist appointment? 😊
Good Morning, hope you are well? I was sent home with an extensive blood test to have done and a follow up appointment for November. The one test is for TB and Prof did tell me that I am going to have to go back onto biologicals now. Will let you know the moment I have a chat with the Prof. Keep safe 🙏
