Finally diagnosed

After 9 years of waiting I’ve finally been diagnosed with behcets. I found a doctor I’m really comfortable with and I’m confident that he can help me. I’ve had a blood test today and noticed there checking for celiac disease, has anyone diagnosed had a diagnosis of celiac disease as well as behcets? I’ve been started on Azathioptine at 25mg and I’m increasing to 50mg in two weeks, I wondered if anyone has tried this and how they got on with it?

I am on Azathioprine too - 150mg daily now after a gradual increase. Wonder drug - worked for me. My husband has coeliacs - it is inflammation of the bowel - Behcets is an inflammatory condition anyway. It would be worth switching to a gluten free diet just to see if it improves anything - I have in effect because it is easier to cook one meal rather than two. Please post how you get on. x

I haven’t yet been diagnosed with Behcet’s but my rheumy believes that this is what I have. Put me on colchicine to see if they helped the ulcers and they have. My 🌟 GP believes that this will lead to a diagnosis when I see my rheumy again in April. I was however diagnosed with coeliac nearly 10 years ago.

Hi Soph. 9 years is a long time! You must be relieved to finally get some answers.

I have not been diagnosed with celiac but I am very gluten-intolerant. When I first gave up gluten my BD went into remission for 5 years!

My tablets have been increased to 50mg now I haven’t notice a massive difference just yet. What I have noticed is a couple times the rashes and ulcers are trying to come out, they sort of come and go but I’m guessing the medication may be helping these sort of symptoms? Thank you for asking, I appreciate it!
