Combined Contraceptive pill with migranes

Has anyone had anything similar to what I am experiencing? I've been on combined pill for 6months and I've had constant migranes. I've been advised that I can not take combined pills anymore. However I do not want to stop my period by taking progesterone only pill. There is copper iud but again I do not want anything inserted in my body. I'm out of options. Don't know what to do.

Hi Tina090,I don't think you get a real period while taking the combined pill, it's technically a "breakthrough " bleed while you take a lower dose of the synthetic hormones. (Maybe not so different to the progestogen-only pill?)

Have you looked into non-hormonal barrier contraception options?

Only condoms give any protection against the pathogens that cause cancer (hpv, 13% prevalence rate) and bv (gardnerella, ureaplasma mycoplasma etc). But if your partner has been tested for these, then a contraceptive diaphragm can be a good option.

Hope that's helpful?
