Does anyone have an insight into when it might be possible to have a copper coil removed during COVID?

Would like to get my copper coil removed after 2.5 years to begin to try to conceive but nhs advises on their website that it might not be possible at the moment?

Call you local reproductive health clinic. Many have been open all the way through lockdown. Removing it via the GP surgery may be a bit more challenging .

There’s a few open strictly by appointment only but wasn’t sure if it was just for urgent issues. I don’t want to seem ignorant to their priorities and completely understand that there’s more pressing issues at hand but I’m also thinking I don’t want to put my life on hold because the worlds “on hold”. I’m really not meaning to be selfish but I’ve waited so long for “the right time”! Is this generally something gps don’t deal with? Or would the usual process be through your gp do you know?

If your GP practice has staff trained to remove an IUD/IUS ( its very easy ) then they can do it . Local reproductive health clinics can advise you of their booking criteria. Mainly the focus is on limiting patient numbers in the waiting areas during lockdown. If you had though your coil was displaced, you would have to get it checked/removed, and there has to be a facility for that. What you are attending for is a quick procedure. Call them or your GP - they can advise you

A sexual health clinic will take it out for you by appointment I'm sure as it only takes a few minutes. Again as you have been advised your gp surgery could have someone trained who might be willing to do it at the end of practice before closing.

I called my gp a few weeks back and they directed me to a sexual health clinic who I have a telephone assessment with on the 15th then hopefully an appointment to have it out not long after :)
