Hi I had a copper coil fitted two weeks ago and I’m still getting bleeding - most of the time it’s not a lot but sometimes I think I’m starting my period and I’m not.
Is this normal ?
Thank you x

Sometimes spotting can happen for several weeks after an IUD insertion. If you are otherwise well, you can simply monitor it. If you have other symptoms like tummy pain, fever, nausea, etc then discuss with the coil inserter.
Thank you ☺️

Quote " Will an IUD affect my periods?"
You may have spotting (bleeding between periods) or irregular bleeding in the first six months after you’ve had the IUD fitted.
Some people have heavier, longer or more painful periods. This may improve over time.
If you have prolonged bleeding the doctor or nurse may be able to give you a medicine that can help control the bleeding. They may also check the bleeding isn’t due to other causes such as infection.
