I have itchy dark area around ny groin area...

Hi,

I have had this for two years, and its getting worst... In between my thigh it itchy and around my genital area which is white and itchy aswell...

I try cleaning with tea tree oil but has left me with a burnt dark patch... i have been cleaning it regularly and keeping it dry as when the area is moist is when i itch alot that leaves a burnimg feeling..

I haven't seen the doctor i hoping someone may have an idea in what this maybe.

Dear Hoamib,

Sounds like you may have a fungal groin infection. Would you mind posting a photo/s?

Can I also ask you to check the soles of your feet for flaky skin and also between your toes and see if there are moist white flakes of skin there as well? Often fungal infection affects both the groin and feet/toes.

If tea tree oil hasn't worked, I suggest you get some clotrimazole 1% cream (aka Canesten) from the chemist or online to apply on the affected areas, as per instructions.

I had a slight fungal infection on my groin once but used Daktarin and hydrocortisone cream that cleared it up very quickly. Hope you get better soon.
