Can please anyone who has genital warts for many years tell me how often do they appear? I had one over a year ago, and they disappear without any treatment. I didnt know it was genital warts, i thought something normal after shaving. And then I started a relationship, and as it seems I’ve infected my boyfriend too. On September my boyfriend told me that he has a small bump, but i thought that is somthing normal. Then on December 2019 they come back again, and it seems my boyfriend now passed it to me. I went to the doctor and i used treatment, genital warts been gone for 5 days and now I am clean and i dont have them anymore . My boyfriend lives in uk and i havent seen him since November, but he is having new warts since December every week. His doctor is freezing them. But they come back somewhere else. But i dont have news since December 2019. Maybe now i am imune or what? Why is he having genital warts? How often do they appear????? Will we have always genital wart or they will stop coming back at some point??? I had another relationship before, at 2017, and had sex with him for the first time, after 2 months we break up. Then in 2018 i meet this boy and i love him so much. My boyfriend never had one, I am the first for him. I feel so bad for what I did and that I have passed this to him. He didnt deserve that. I ask him to leave me, he cant do that, but he cant stay with me either. We were planning to engage, cuz i know him since 2016, we were friends. I cant lose him, but I cant save him too. I feel so ashamed, I feel like a shit. I lost my good life that i had with him. He says that he still loves me and wont leave, but he is soo depressed, and sometimes dont want to stay with me. He don’t laugh anymore. He is becoming unfriendly. I am destroying his life. What can I do?????

you should attend a sexual health clinic for counseling around this. Warts to do not occur lifelong, but out immune systems keep the virus ( like many other viruses like the chickenpox virus ) from recurring. Stop shaving or waxing the area until all have cleared - this causes breaks in your skin defence ( its covered in dead skin cells like Teflon ) and that can help HPV to recur.

Thank you so much, I read the link below. So helpful to get informed. I hope this will be gone soon, cuz its really heartbreaking. Thank you a lot for giving me some hope. Here in my country the doctors are still so arrogant, they dont listen while you’ re talking and believe me or not that when I asked gynecologist for more information, she told me : “ Girl this dg is Condyloma acuminatum , read on the internet for more”. Im shocked.

You are welcome. The thing to focus on is that they do not affect your fertility, and in some ways are just a cosmetic problem, rather than affecting your overall sexual health. Just make sure ( like every woman ) that you have your smear tests in the future . Just because you have ever had genital warts in the past, doesnt make you at higher risk of cervix changes than anyone else. Oh and I should mention smoking - heavy smoking can cause the HPV to appear in the first place, and to recur . Dont worry - they will eventually be gone.
