As you are young and just starting out there is a brand called lil-let’s that are perfect for starting out with. They have a teen range aswell as a normal range and you can find tampons that are a lot smaller than regular ones making insertion less scary. They are also really quite cheap in comparison to some other brands. :)

I have a heavy period so need the super pads so was hoping to start with the regulars.I have had twins so I couldn’t be tight. My mum has used tampons so she doesn’t know what is good either.

In that case then just go straight in for tampax. Start off with regular and then go up to a higher absorbency if needed

Do Lil Lets do bigger ones or is Tampax the best choice if I am heavy and had two babies. Please don’t judge.

Lil let’s do bigger ones too. They’re a main brand like tampax but they also have a teen range which are made for smaller bodies and first time use. They do a range of absorbencys even for extremely heavy periods. Check them out online. No judgement here

Thanks. What are the other main brands in the U.K if neither of those suit my body? Thanks for not judging. Lots of people think I am a rubbish mum because of my age.

Hey lovely I just want to reassure you that having babies does not affect vaginal tightness. Your vagina is designed to stretch and return to its normal size after giving birth.

If anyone tries to claim that you are "too loose" or shame you on this basis, then they have no place giving you any opinion whatsoever regarding your body.

Teen size tampons are great if you have never used tampons before because they are a little smaller and easier to fit into the right place and are designed to be less easy to feel. Like anything, your body needs to get used to them being there so, the smaller the better to start out with.

Anon is right, there are Lil-lets and Tampax which are your big two brands, but you can find other brands out there, like Kotex, Dame, Flo and own brands like Liberelle from Boots. Cotton's and Kind are ecologically friendly, if you're concerned about that. They all have their advantages and disadvantages, and really the best solution is to experiment and find the best one for you!

The only REALLY important things are to remember is to use the smallest tampon that works for your flow and also to remember to take them out every 6-8 hours.

Thank you. I need the super pads so tampons will probably be same.
