GP appointments

Its very difficult trying to get a gp appointment, mine is currently 3 weeks and when you say that I am recovering from cancer and have certain issues they say it doesn't matter, there's no appointments, this is very frustrating and more so as I work full time and it seems that the ones working get a more raw deal for it, anyone else fell the same? would be good for some feedback on this

There are usually walk in urgent care GP services but you will need to wait possible for several hours to be seen . If you are looking for an out of 9-5 or a weekend appointment then of course there is going to be a wait. And remember that unfortunately a lot of people don't turn up for their appointments, which makes the waiting list longer.

I've just come off the phone with my surgery. The first appointment with either of the two docs I want to see is in just over 4 WEEKS. I don't have a job, classed as retired, but I do have CFS as well as asthma - I ask very little but I do not see why I have to get up to call the surgery at 8am (I usually sleep till at least 11am so 8 is middle-of-the-night for me) and IF I do that I might get an "urgent" appointment that day and IF I am very lucky it will be with the one remaining doctor who is worth talking to - unfortunately we have a couple who simply do not seem to understand me at all - OR I can see a Nurse Practitioner. I don't believe it's worse if you're working, I suspect they try harder to squeeze people in if they know they are a valuable member of society, but as a retiree, well, work it out.
