Doxycyclin course. Taking this drug for a minor NSU infection. The side effects are hard work- the course is 7 days 2 per day - can I get away with 5 days? or can I reduce to 1 per day?

No. The dose is there for a reason!

HI.. it depends on what you mean by the side effects being hard work? . Firstly a 7 day course at 2 per day is the usual dose and there's no point in reducing it as it probably won't clear the infection, which means you could still be infectious afterwards then you can guess the rest. Alternatively contact wherever they were prescribed by and tell them about the side effects and ask if there's anything else they could prescribe. Remember that you can't drink alcohol with any antibiotic as it renders them useless. Also check that you're not eating/drinking certain foods like grapefruit or a fruit juice which has it in, like a citrus mix.... grapefruit does interact with antibiotics.

Lastly, is 7 days of not feeling terribly good better than having an NSU... your choice.
